The United Arab Emirates: DMPrevent, a first of its kind diabetic wound care and amputation prevention center that combines world class wound care treatment, diabetic health education as well as groundbreaking telehealth technology, announced today the appointment of Dr. Robert Frykberg DPM, MPH as its new Medical Director. His highly regarded experience will be instrumental in ensuring that DMPrevent’s wound care center in Fujairah will adhere to the highest international clinical standards.
Dr. Frykberg is a graduate of the California College of Podiatric Medicine in 1976. He went on to complete his residency training at the New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston. In addition, Dr. Frykberg served as the President of the Massachusetts Podiatric Medical Society and a Member of the Board of Registration in Podiatry.
From 1992 to 1994, he attended the Harvard University School of Public Health and graduated with a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in quantitative methods. After 21 years of private practice, Dr. Frykberg was the Clinical Dean of the Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery.
Dr. Frykberg’s research and writing interests have included all facets of lower extremity disorders, but are specifically focused on diabetic foot ulcers, infections, Charcot foot, and wound care. He is the author of nearly 100 peer-reviewed publications, and has also been the editor of two textbooks: The High-Risk Foot in Diabetes Mellitus (1991) and the Diabetic Charcot Foot (2010).

DMPrevent will soon be opening the region’s only comprehensive wound care and amputation prevention center with state-of-the-art treatment options in the clinic and remote monitoring capability from Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates. Using remote monitoring, patients can use their smartphones to alert doctors of changes in skin lesions or blood glucose and receive feedback from trained medical personnel.
