Dubai: After its highly successful debut in the UAE last month and as the first ever DEKA event outside the USA, DEKA is back with its second event of the season, DEKA Mile. Designed to offer an exciting platform for the UAE’s fittest and toughest competitors, DEKA Mile is taking place on Saturday 27 November 2021 – the last day of Dubai Fitness Challenge 2021 – at Al Seef, a bustling waterfront promenade with rich heritage and contemporary areas for leisure, entertainment and outdoor activities.
Proudly presented by Dubai Holding and from the creators of Spartan, DEKA Mile is giving participants a second chance to test themselves against the UAE’s best, and to smash previous records and leader boards. Featuring a 1.6km run and ten DEKA zones, the DEKA Mile event is a well-rounded functional test for people of all fitness levels and is made up of challenges that are based on rudimentary movements that don’t require any specific training or education to complete.
A modified version of the DEKA Strong event which debuted in Dubai’s Central Park Towers at DIFC last month, and witnessed the participation of 635 competitors from different nationalities, DEKA Mile features the same movements and machine challenges that include Reverse Alternating Lunge, the Rower, Box Jump Overs, Med Ball Sit-Up Throws, the Skierg, a Farmers Carry, the Assault Air Bike, Deadball Wall Overs, Tank Push/Pull and RAM Burpees, but has a 1.6km run challenge instead of a 5km route.
Built on a Trifecta event model, participants must take part in all three events, the DEKA Strong, DEKA Mile and DEKA Fit, to earn the full DEKA medal. The fourth DEKA event in the season line up, the DEKA Trifecta will take place on Friday 11 February 2022 at The Outlet Village and will include all three variations of the DEKA event.
Al Seef is a perfect destination for this international sporting and fitness event with fresh ambiance, stunning views on the Creek and picturesque scenery of some of the UAE’s historical gems. The Dubai Holding sponsorship of the DEKA UAE event series is one of its key contributions to a record-breaking number of fitness activities in the 5th edition of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, as well as a testament of the Group’s commitment to sustainable development that encourages the health and wellbeing of communities.
Inspired by the Greeks who were the first on record to gamify and test fitness, DEKA’s challenges are based on the simple movements of carrying, pushing, pulling, kneeling, jumping, stepping, or climbing, as well as getting up and down from the ground. Challenges also include three basic forms of transportation - row, ski, and cycle. DEKA promotes training with a purpose to increase motivation, individual performance, and a sense of connection to the community, and is a training programme that has been designed for all fitness levels.
A brand new style of fitness competition, DEKA is a decathlon of functional fitness that has been designed to be basic, simple, and utilitarian. Tickets are now on sale starting at USD 60 per person, with a season pass to all DEKA events on sale for just USD 205 per person. For more information please visit, https://deka.fit/uae/
