The e Dubai Airport Freezone Authority (DAFZA) announced the conclusion of its participation in Gulfood 2020, the region’s largest food and beverage processing industry event. The event was held at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) between 16-20 February. DAFZA's pavilion witnessed a huge turnout from various stakeholders seeking to explore different services provided by the free zone to global F&B companies.
During the exhibition, DAFZA highlighted the movement of the food products trade through the free zone to or from the local market and other international markets. The US, Egypt and Hong Kong topped the list of most significant commercial destinations with the highest movement of such products with or via the free zone, which reflects the unique accessibility and connectivity capabilities of DAFZA and establishes its position as a global gateway to the movement of global food products between the world’s continents and regions.
DAFZA reaffirms the efficiency of its facilities, advanced infrastructure customs services, incentives to facilitate businesses and the logistics solutions it provides to multinational companies based in the free zone or shipping their products to various countries around the world through the emirate of Dubai. Thanks to its strategic location, which is in the heart of the global trade movement with access to reach various regions within a few hours, along with benefiting from the facilities and infrastructure that Dubai International Airport offers near the free zone.
DAFZA is known as world-class service provider to the specialized F&B companies. The free zone offers storage solutions that leverage the light industrial units (LIUs). The LIUs, with a capacity of 200 kW, are the optimal option to store vegetables, animal and vegetable oils and prepackaged foods, which come on top of the products traded through the free zone.
DAFZA also places additional focus on supporting the halal food sector on local, regional and global levels. The free zone launched the world’s first comprehensive guide entitled Dubai Global Gateway to Halal Industries: Your Guide is a Step by Step Guide available in Arabic, English, Spanish and Portuguese. Through the guide, DAFZA aims to support global investors and companies operating within the halal sector, and to introduce them to the opportunities provided by the sector at the regional and global levels. It also serves to familiarize stakeholders with the halal ecosystem in the UAE in terms of certification and accreditation, the UAE Halal logo and business set-up solutions.
The Halal Trade and Marketing Center, the first-of-its-kind in the region, provides an integrated ecosystem of advisory services for all stakeholders, investors and companies. Such provisions are held with the aim to support and assist their operations and to explore promising opportunities across the regional market. Such opportunities have been designated to include F&B manufacturing and exporting companies.
