A high-level delegation consisting of the OIC General Secretariat, the Islamic Solidarity Fund (ISF) and the OIC Regional Mission in Niger is conducting a field visit to the displacement and refugee camps in Burkina Faso in the period from 19 to 24 March 2023, in order to assess the real needs of the beneficiaries of the project of empowering women living in refugee camps and displaced situation in order to start the project in cooperation and coordination with the concerned authorities in Burkina Faso. This comes within the framework of implementing Resolution No. 8/11-M regarding joint action to support and empower refugee and displaced women in each of (Burkina Faso, Sudan, and Jordan), respectively, issued by the 8th Session of the OIC Ministerial Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for Women, which was held in Cairo during the period From 6 to 8 July 2021, and all relevant previous ministerial resolutions.
It is worth mentioning that the resolution of the 8th Session of the OIC Ministerial Conference for Women and previous relevant ministerial resolutions regarding the joint action to support refugee and displaced women had called on the OIC General Secretariat, the Islamic Solidarity Fund and the relevant OIC organs to support the implementation of this project in each of (Burkina Faso, Sudan, and Jordan), and the ISF expressed its willing to contribute to the implementation of the project in three phases.
During the field visit, the delegation will meet with Her Excellency the Minister of Women and Humanitarian Action in Burkina Faso, and with the concerned authorities and regional authorities that oversee places of displacement and refugees in Burkina Faso.
