Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSH&RC) has once again been recognized by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives’ (CHIME) ‘Digital Health Most Wired’ program. KFSH&RC is among the only two healthcare facilities outside the United States to achieve level 9 status for being at the forefront of innovating with healthcare information technology (IT) to improve patient safety and outcomes across the entire organization.

CHIME is an executive organization that enables senior healthcare IT leaders to exchange best practices and promote the effective use of IT to advance healthcare in the communities they serve. For the ‘Digital Health Most Wired’ program, CHIME conducts an annual survey to evaluate how healthcare organizations worldwide effectively adopt advanced technologies into their clinical and operation programs to elevate quality of care, safety and outcomes. The Most Wired survey and certification program serve as an all-inclusive “Digital Health Check” for healthcare organizations across the globe. The survey criteria are beyond the traditional IT adoption rating as they predominantly access an organization’s programs, processes and outcomes.

“This prestigious acknowledgement would not have been possible without the strategic, digital interoperability of our environment,” commented Dr Osama Alswailem, Chief Information Officer, KFSH&RC. “I commend our leadership and clinical teams for working tirelessly to deliver the best quality care and patient experience.”

The data CHIME collected in the survey extensively covered various aspects of Information and Communications Technology, which led to the Most Wired recognition. These include KFSH&RC’s well-established infrastructure that enables advanced technological deployments, business continuity/resilience, integration engines, patient portals, innovative data management and artificial intelligence-based analytics, population health systems, and supply chain management, among others.

“I consider the ‘Digital Health Most Wired’ program unique to the industry. It encourages organizations to evaluate their processes and commit to constantly improving their digital footprint to deliver today’s best patient care. KFSH&RC is honored to be recognized for the third time among leading healthcare facilities worldwide for leveraging advanced technologies to achieve meaningful outcomes, including access to data at the point of care and tools to engage patients and their families throughout their care journey. Being awarded as a ‘wired’ organization is a true testament to KFSH&RC being an interoperable organization seeking to provide excellence in regional care in the region.” Dr Osama added.

KFSH&RC has proactively taken the lead by investing in machine learning, personalized medicine-driven care and other state-of-the-art technologies to elevate healthcare and enhance patient and caregiver experiences. This continues to be integral to KFSH&RC’s transformation strategy to boost sector-wide innovation and collaboration.

This is the fifth year that CHIME has conducted the survey and awarded organizations for the ‘Digital Health Most Wired’ program. More than 38,000 facilities were represented in the 2022 survey, presenting an increase from the number of facilities represented in the previous year’s survey.
