Abu Dhabi: Chinese energy leaders are set to join the very strong Asian participation at the 24th World Energy Congress, taking place in Abu Dhabi from 9-12 September, following a second visit to the country by the leadership of the Congress Organising Committee.
China is the largest power producer in the world, and has the largest installed hydropower, wind and solar capacity of any country. The Chinese pavilion, organised by the China Electricity Council (CEC), will provide Chinese energy companies an excellent platform to showcase their cutting-edge generation and transmission technologies to energy leaders from around the world.
Speaking earlier today, Yang Kun, Executive President of the China Electricity Council said: “Participating in this event and enhancing communication with the international energy community will make the advantages of the entire industry chain of China's power companies known to the world, promote win-win cooperation between Chinese energy companies and their counterparts, and further promote the “Belt and Road” initiative. We wish the Congress complete success.”
During his visit, Organising Committee Chairman H.E. Dr. Matar Al Neyadi also met representatives of the National Energy Administration (NEA), the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organisation (GEIDCO), China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) and China Huadian Corporation, all of whom expressed their interest in the Congress and willingness to participate.
Dr Matar Al Neyadi, Undersecretary at the UAE Ministry of Energy and Industry and Chairman of the Organising Committee for the 24th World Energy Congress, said “The UAE has long been a meeting point of East and West - it was one of the first countries to respond to the “Belt and Road” initiative, and is a founding member of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
The 24th World Energy Congress will continue this, by convening the entire energy ecosystem in Abu Dhabi - not just one energy source, not just one part of the world, and not just one audience.
This week has helped me update the key Chinese energy organisations on preparations for – and the growing momentum behind - the Congress, and the unique opportunity it presents for them. I am confident of very strong Chinese participation in September.”
