Celine began her world tour on Valentines Day in Johannesburg
19th February, 2008: The countdown to March 5 has started, marking the day when Celine Dion's fans will see her live in Dubai concert at Four Seasons Golf Club, Dubai Festival City. The Canadian songbird started her world tour on Valentines Day in Johannesburg, South Africa, and is scheduled to arrive in Dubai early March.
Having spent the past five years in Las Vegas's Caesar's Palace, Celine is glad to be touring the world, meeting fans across the globe. Accompanying Celine on her visit to the Middle East are her mother, husband René Angélil and son René-Charles. The family is not new to Arab culture since René, who also happens to be Celine's manager, is of Middle Eastern ancestry. When asked whether René-Charles will be following in his mother's foot steps and taking to the stage, Celine replied "He is very interested in music, and I will surely back him up and support any decision he makes when the time comes".
Celine seems very excited to be visiting an Arab country, having many friends from the region, she has heard a lot about Dubai in particular, I"I have heard that Dubai is a beautiful, new and very fast growing city that has become a worldwide attraction with its new wonders - a must see destination - a new Vegas" commented Celine Dion in Johannesburg earlier this week. Dubai is also anticipating Celine's concert in return, it's the music event we have all been looking forward to, not only will she be singing her latest album 'Taking Chances' but also her oldies which are as good as gold such as 'My Heart Will go On and On'. Celine deliberately chose Valentines season to infatuate audiences with her heart felt lyrics.
Earlier this week, Forbes ranked Celine Dion as one of the most powerful and highest paid music artists in the world. When asked if she had ever imagined to be where she is today, Celine explained "Well, I love singing so much and I do my best to communicate all my feelings through my songs. I don't think of awards or to be the best selling artist, I just think of giving my audience an unforgettable experience and do my very best to achieve this".
The super star who is coming to Dubai with her entourage of dancers and band members is known to put on a spectacular show. When asked which concert she performed best, Celine said "One of my most memorable performances was in Quebec, I was in front of a massive audience for the first time. I was extremely nervous backstage, listening to the huge crowd outside, but once I got on stage my audience's warmth and love gave me a lot of energy. I love performing, every time I get on to stage is special for me, each time has its own charm. I look forward to performing in front of an Arab dominated audience for the very first time".
We could not finish our conversation with Celine without wondering what her next wish is, considering she has such a great track record of dreams coming true, "Well, I will have to make a 3 in one wish, I hope we can learn to live equally with everyone around us and I hope that happiness, education and health flourish. It is a pity that everyone around the world does not get the same educational and health facilities, those who are better off should try and help the under-privileged as much as they can" commented Celine.
