DOHA, QATAR: The Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) community gathered to formally welcome the new students who will begin their first year of studies next week. The Class of 2023 is comprised of more than 100 students.
Michael Trick, dean of CMU-Q, offered his encouragement as he welcomed the students to the CMU-Q community: “Allow me to reassure each one of you, we have selected you because you have talent, work ethic, creativity and drive. We chose you because we believe you will succeed and thrive at Carnegie Mellon Qatar.”
The students also heard from Maryam Al Naemi, a 2018 graduate from the Information Systems Program, who shared words of advice with the incoming students: “Class of 2023, be fierce, be inspired, be kind, be hardworking, be a Tartan, because from now on, you are officially part of this CMU-Q family”.
Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar offers undergraduate programs in five areas: biological sciences, business administration, computational biology, computer science, and information systems. This is the 16th incoming class since CMU-Q opened its doors in 2004.
