  • Most Careem Delivery Customers use it to send items, but the percentage of ‘buy’ orders has been increasing month-on-month from February 2021.

Dubai, UAE: Careem, announces the latest trends from its buy and send ‘Delivery’ service. Careem Delivery has seen constant month-on-month growth since the beginning of 2021, with 30% growth year-to-date and 33.7% active Careem Customers using the Delivery feature on the app, with most of those Customers sending items within the Emirate of Dubai.Currently, the delivery service is being used primarily to send items, with 78.9% of Careem Delivery Customers either sending or collecting items from across Dubai. On the one hand, top drop-off zones to send items include Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah, Downtown Dubai, Business Bay, and Jumeirah Village Circle, making for 24.1% of all Delivery orders. On the other hand, Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Business Bay, Dubai Marina, Deira, and Jumeirah Village Circle represent the top pick-up zones, making for 26% of all Delivery orders. However, since February, the number of ‘buy’ orders has increased steadily month-on-month, with a total of 21.1% of Delivery Customers asking Careem Captains to purchase items on their behalf.

This year, the app’s most sent or collected items are bags, documents, and laptops, highlighting the convenience that the Careem service is adding, particularly to those no longer working their full 40-hour weeks in an office setting. Food (specifically Biryani and Bakso) and face masks using the’ buy’ tool are the top purchased items. The demand for these items highlights the needs throughout the pandemic and the change to consumer shopping patterns. With Careem Delivery, Customers are not limited to the restaurants and shops partnered with apps, they can order from their favourite spots, no matter how big or small.

Commenting on the recent findings, Bassel Al Nahlaoui, MD of Mobility at Careem said “We’ve seen a continuous increase in the demand for delivery and we are constantly working on perfecting this service, making it a valuable addition to our app’s ecosystem and ensuring the easiest solution and even more convenience for our Customers, allowing them to order from anywhere, pick up and deliver nearly any item, and help run personal errands when there just isn’t enough time in the day.”

Careem Delivery provides an on-demand service where Customers can order and have delivered any items desired, from personal errands and retail items, that fit in the 50x50x50cm box and weigh a maximum of 10 Kgs. The Customer simply needs to indicate what they need to have picked up and from where and then provide the location necessary.
