Dubai - In support of saving the planet we call home, Jumeira Rotana and BurJuman Arjaan united again to join the worldwide campaign of Earth Hour on Saturday, 30th of March 2019.
The two Rotana properties demonstratively switched off non-essential lights for an hour to show their commitment to protecting our environment. Instead, the hotels were illuminated with candles in order to increase awareness of global climate change and recognition of the world’s largest initiative against it.
The General Manager of Jumeira Rotana and BurJuman Arjaan, Mr. Ulrich Hoffmeister, commented: “We believe that changes begin with oneself. With our hotel activities and initiatives, we are not only demonstrating our support and commitment to our planet and nature but as well show that we care about how the world will look for future generations, considering that our actions today will determine our descendant’s world.”
“We believe that taking little steps like turning off lights and increasing the chiller temperature by 2 degrees will have a huge positive effect. Earth Hour reflects a philosophy we try to practice year-round: If each of us takes small steps, we can do something big together”, he added.
Rotana hotel’s commitment to energy conservation and Earth Hour is one of the ways to demonstrate the support for the environment; the both properties will remain devoted and committed in pursuing initiatives that alleviate the effects of climate change, not only through Earth Hour but also through other environmental CSR activities like: tree planting, green project implementation, use of recycled products as well as daily practices such as saving water by having installed filters in the water tab and saving energy by using LED lights.
Earth Hour is a worldwide grassroots movement uniting people to protect the planet and is organised by WWF. Engaging a massive mainstream community on a broad range of environmental issues, Earth Hour was famously started as a lights-off event in Sydney, Australia in 2007. Since then it has grown to engage more than 7000 cities and towns worldwide, and the one-hour event continues to remain the key driver of the now larger movement.
