Muscat, Oman, 11 February 2014--One of the world's largest oil and gas companies, BP, will take its prominent position as a main sponsor at the 9th International Oil and Gas West Asia (OGWA), which is scheduled from March 31 to April 2 at the Oman International Exhibition Center. It is also among the roster of over 200 top names in the oil and gas industry participating as exhibitors in what will be OGWA's biggest edition so far since its launch in 1998.
A long-time exhibitor of OGWA, BP Oman is a valuable and major reinforcement to the exhibition, as it brings its pioneering technology, experience and expertise in developing Oman's gas resources, indicative of the continued development and advancement of the Sultanate's oil and gas industry.
Dave Campbell, general manager of BP Oman, says "BP is investing in developing and producing gas for Oman from a number of deep, tight reservoirs in the Block 61 concession, located in the center of the country. BP plans a development program of up to 300 wells that will produce about one billion cubic feet of gas per day and increase supply for Oman by up to a third."
BP has recently signed a US$16-billion Khazzan Gas Project deal with Oman, a very important project that will help develop a long-term gas supply chain in the Sultanate. Construction work will begin this year with first gas expected in 2017.
"BP Oman is also committed to investing in Omani talent. Omani professionals make up more than 70% of our workforce and BP is continuing to invest in hiring and training local talent to support our long term operations in the country," Campbell adds.
Speaking about BP's participation in OGWA, Nader Abbas, general manager of organizer Omanexpo, remarks "BP's continued support to OGWA provides the impetus for us to uphold the quality and value of the show and increase the profitability and the number of promotional and networking opportunities for all our exhibitors."
"With the participation of companies such as BP, we heighten the level of confidence of stakeholders in the show and in the sector as well. We are especially glad to welcome them as our main sponsor for this edition," he adds.
OGWA 2014 will be held under the auspices of the Ministry of Oil & Gas and has once again collaborated with Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) to organize the high-level SPE EOR Conference. This year's conference revolves around the theme "Driving Integrated and Innovative EOR," with the aim of addressing the needs and ways of applying integration and innovation to EOR applications.
OGWA 2014 is supported by Petroleum Development Oman, Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and Oman Society for Petroleum Services. Apart from the support from the public sector, the show has received sponsorship support from Gulf Energy (VIP Sponsor), Abraj Energy Services and Baker Hughes (Platinum Sponsors), International Business Development, Ray International Oil & Gas, Ray Skills Development (Gold Sponsors), VEC Oil & Gas Consultants, Rockwell Automation, and RSS (Silver Sponsors), Tasneea (Badge Sponsor) Norris Production Solutions Middle East (Visitor Bag Sponsor) and DB Schenker (Oilman's Lunch Sponsor).
OGWA is recognized as the only oil and gas exhibition and conference platform in Oman and established as one of the largest energy events in the region.
