Bee'ah achieves 576,000 operating man-hours with zero incidents in 2012 & sets target to achieve 1.1 million hours for 2013

Sharjah, UAE - March 25th, 2013: Bee'ah - the Middle East's leading and award winning integrated environmental and waste management company - has accomplished an outstanding 576,000 operating man-hours with zero LTI (loss of time due to injury), across all its business operations of managing and processing waste, highlighting its achievement in creating a safe and efficient work place, with a high priority to the compliance to HSSE protocols.

"This significant milestone is a fantastic achievement not only for Bee'ah but also for our valued employees who have been on-site making conscious decisions regarding their Health and Safety," said Khaled Al Huraimel, Group CEO at Bee'ah. "Our company is fully committed to ensuring that all our facilities and operations fulfill our health, environment, safety and security policies, and strive to ensure that all risks of injury to our people are minimized."

Bee'ah has set a target for 2013 to almost double its achievement of 2012 and achieve 1.1 million operational hours without LTI (loss time due to incidents) at its waste management center in Al Saj'ah.

To further intensify its commitment to health and safety practices in the workplace, all Bee'ah employees have been trained on basic safety, firefighting and first aid to instill accountability for safety in the operational facilities and create a progressive culture of continuous improvement for Bee'ah in health, environment, safety and security performance. Trainings also included safe driving practices for all drivers operating within Bee'ah's facilities and divisions.

"This is all part of our commitment to serve our environment, employees and customers in the best way possible," said Mohammed Abdul Aziz, Head of HSSE at Bee'ah. "It is a policy at Bee'ah to conduct all business activities in a responsible manner, free from recognized hazards, to respect the environment, health and safety of our employees, customers, suppliers, partners and community neighbors; and to comply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations of the United Arab Emirates as well as complying with international standards."

Through its commitment to continuously improving its HSSE performance, Bee'ah has set up its First Aid clinic in Al Saj'ah, and since then, the number of workers falling ill has dramatically declined. This is a step in the right direction of providing medical services and screenings for Bee'ah's staff. As a result, the number of lost working hours has been brought down significantly, leading to higher productivity.

Furthermore, the HSSE team took matters further and held a health day for all staff in the operations and head office over a period of one week, in association with Noor Al Madinah Medical Center, involving quick tips to living healthier as well as voluntary check-ups by doctors from the medical center.
