Doha - March 2nd, 2015: The Bedaya Center for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Center), a joint initiative by Qatar Development Bank and Silatech, hosted on February 25 at Katara Cultural Village a lecture titled "Have an Imprint on LinkedIn" delivered by change, leadership and human development expert Mahmoud Khater.

A top-tier social media website, LinkedIn has become the largest and most famous global professional network over a relatively short period of time with more than 347 million members across the world promoting themselves by showcasing their professional experiences, skills and capabilities so that companies can reach them easily and directly without mediators.

In the lecture, Mahmoud Khater tackled several points, most notably labour market's recent developments affecting the career path, the importance of building a personal brand and its components and role, setting a clear career vision and LinkedIn user value in the labour market.

"I am delighted and honoured to partner with Bedaya Center and add my contribution to its dedicated efforts of helping the youth," said Khater who went ahead to discuss the essential steps of building a distinctive personal brand and leveraging social media for self-marketing.

"This workshop was designed to offer a better understanding of self-marketing on social media, present a deeper, more comprehensive insight into building an online personal brand and provide all possible help for attendees to set their goals and properly plan their presence on social media websites," added Khater.

For his part, Majed Fathallah, Bedaya Center Career Development Manager, said: "Seeking to expand the career development horizons for several youth categories, Bedaya Center offers guidance through lectures and workshops catering to the needs of students, job seekers and professionals with the aim of refining their essential skills to jump start a successful career in the Qatari labour market."

Fathallah added: "'Have an Imprint on LinkedIn' is part of the monthly skill development programme introduced by Bedaya Center for 2015, through which a workshop or a lecture discussing a career development topic is held each month. With February's lecture, Bedaya Center was keen on providing the youth with all the tools that enable them to learn about the remarkable benefits LinkedIn has to offer personally and professionally as the perfect place for building a unique brand."

With an impressive track record in establishing project management offices and successfully implementing critical projects, Mahmoud Khater has 15 years of experience in leadership as well as change and project management. Khater has an MBA from The Manchester College in the UK and a diploma in Islamic Finance.

It's worth pointing out that LinkedIn has recently announced the launch of its Arabic website, bringing its total available languages up to 24 with Arabic being the first right-to-left language introduced by the website. The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) is one of the fastest growing regions for LinkedIn as website users increased from five million in 2012 to more than 14 million today.
