Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Charity giving is deeply rooted in the Arabian culture and The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has always been at the forefront for donating to disaster relief and humanitarian causes across the world.
In wake of the same vision, The James & Maginley Charity and Care Foundation Inc. encourages the GCC to participate in rebuilding Barbuda, which was hit by Hurricane Irma Last year.
“We have been working with the MENA region since a very long time and we appreciate all their efforts in developing deals and agreements that have paved way for betterment of Antigua and Barbuda, in addition to Hurricane Irma,” said Casroy James, Chairman and Partner of The James and Maginley Charity and Care Foundation Inc.
“The natural disaster that hit Barbuda last year was disheartening. As we continue to listen to the reports, we have realised that Barbuda has still not recovered completely. As such, it is our responsibility to continue our efforts and provide the necessary resources that will help improve the situation on Barbuda. We are confident that the GCC’s support in this context will go a long way in helping us meet our goal,” said Casroy James.
In an effort to help Antigua’s sister island - Barbuda, The James & Maginley Charity and Care Foundation Inc., offered a huge donation to support the country rebuild after Hurricane Irma. The Foundation is working in collaboration with one of its major clients to help rebuild the nation by arranging over USD 200,000 worth of building supplies, which was presented to the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS) recently.
“At our Foundation, we remain committed to supporting the islands of the Caribbean, particularly Barbuda that was hit massively by Hurricane Irma last year. A number of our business relationships readily agreed to our requests for assistance following the disaster, particularly as it was related to Barbuda and Dominica as well. While there are several others who are also ready to extend support, the building supplies is being facilitated whole-heartedly by one particular client,” said Kirthley Maginley, Co-Founder and CEO of James & Maginley.
In September 2017, Hurricane Irma hit several parts of the Caribbean, damaging and destroying more than 95 per cent of Barbuda’s buildings and forcing its 1,600-plus residents to flee for shelters on Antigua, less than 50 kilometers away. Since then several charities and relief funds have been routed to the island to offer ongoing aid and facilitate quick recovery of the people, particularly in Codrington, the capital.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Antigua and Barbuda, I want to extend heartfelt gratitude to the James & Maginley Charity and Care Foundation. We appreciate their continued support and are confident that their unwavering efforts have borne fruit in a very tangible way,” stated Mr. Philmore Mullin, Director of NODS during a brief presentation of three containers of lumber at Antigua’s port facilities in St. John’s.
According to Mullin, the donation will spearhead the completion of the work on repairing a number of houses that are still damaged months after the passage of the powerful storm.
