March 5th 2014, Muscat, Bank Nizwa, Oman's first Islamic Bank, is fulfilling its promise to be the leader in Islamic banking across Oman, by making it easier for its customers to pay their Zakat. The bank has partnered with the Ministry of Endowment and Religious affairs to create a seamless opportunity for customers to meet their religious obligations.

Customers can now easily transfer the required amount from their accounts into the allocated Ministry of Religious Affairs account at Bank Nizwa. They can also deposit cash directly into this account. Customers who regularly wish to transfer Zakat can set up a standing order.

Speaking about this initiative, Dr. Jamil El Jaroudi, CEO, Bank Nizwa stated 'This partnership offers us a wonderful opportunity to make the collection of Zakat more convenient and systematic. At Bank Nizwa we put a lot of importance on our Corporate and Social Responsibility and Zakat is truly an embodiment of this for all of Islamic faith. Through our partnership with the Ministry of Endowment and Religious Affairs we are confident that we can create a greater awareness on the importance of paying Zakat to help the poor and needy.'

Bank Nizwa customers who choose to pay their Zakat through the afore mentioned Bank Account are assured of a waiver of fees on all standing orders linked to this account. There are also fee waivers on internal, local and International transfers associated with this account.

Zakat is one of the most important pillars in Islam and ensures that the very poorest of society are protected from hunger and insecurity and are able to buy basic essentials. Bank Nizwa, as Oman's first Islamic bank, endeavors to help all of its customers to calculate their Zakat and have professionals on hand to answer any queries they may have.
