Manama, Bahrain August 11 2016

Bahrain Tourism & Exhibitions Authority recently launched the second phase of the tourism survey initiative in collaboration with the eGovernment Authority and the King Fahad Causeway Police Department. Representatives from both Authorities went on a field inspection of the location where the survey is being conducted at the King Fahad Causeway.

The BTEA and eGovernment representatives inspected the researchers as they were conducting the survey and ensured that all processes and procedures learnt during the theoretical training were being implemented in accordance with the international standards set out by the World Tourism Organization.

Commenting on the visit, the Chief of Tourism Planning at the Bahrain Tourism & Exhibitions Authority, Ms. Huda Yousif Al Hamar, stated: "We are delighted to partner with the eGovernment Authority to roll out this tourism survey program, which will enable us to better monitor and understand the tourism sector and help us in developing plans and strategies to further boost this sector and contribute towards the development of the Kingdom".

As a result of the success of the first phase of the data collection project, the second phase will be completed within a year, taking into account all the holidays, in order to gather accurate data and information about the visitors' characteristics and tourism expenditure, an essential data for the TSA.

The Tourism Survey Project 2015-2018 will complement the national tourism strategy, which aims to increase the contributions of the tourism sector in GDP terms, by providing accurate indicators through statistical studies and periodic surveys. The program will further help decision heads and policy makers to develop plans and strategies to enhance tourism activity in Bahrain.
