Beirut: – Under the High Patronage of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Lebanon, General Michel Aoun and in collaboration with Banque du Liban, the 10th edition of ArabNet Beirut conference launches next week on 12-13 June 2019 at the Seaside Arena, bringing together more than 3,000 attendees and 250 experts and speakers from around the world to discuss the latest trends in digital business.
The event will kick off with a special session entitled ‘Building an Innovation Nation,’ in collaboration with the Office of the President of the Council of Ministers, H.E. Mr. Saad Harriri, hosting Lebanese government decision-makers to discuss the government’s vision and strategy for digitization, growing the ICT sector’s contribution to the economy, and creating a fostering environment for digital startups.
‘Building an Innovation Nation’ will take place at 9am on June 12th and will include a series of Ministerial-level discussions featuring H.E. Mr. Ghassan Hasbani, Deputy Prime Minister; H.E. Mr. Mohamad Choucair, Minister of Telecommunications; H.E. Ms. Raya El Hassan, Minister of Interior and Municipalities; and H.E. Ms. May Chidiac, Minister of State For Administrative Development; H.E. Mr. Riad Salameh, Governor of the Central Bank of Lebanon; and Mr. Saroj Jha, Regional Director of the Mashreq at the World Bank. H.E. Mr. Adel Afiouni, Minister of State for Investment and Technology Affairs, will also be speaking at the closing of the event on June 13th.
Arabnet Beirut will also be exploring how the diaspora can bring technology opportunities back to Lebanon. This event will gather some of the most inspirational Lebanese diaspora to talk about their journey working abroad, highlighting Lebanon’s advantages and opportunities as a regional tech hub, as well as sharing their advice with the talents in the audience on how they can build their skill set and thrive. Attendees can expect to see the following inspirational speakers from the diaspora at Arabnet Beirut: Sarjoun Skaff, Co-Founder and CTO, Bossa Nova Robotics; Khalil Sehnaoui, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Krypton Security; Monir Zok, Former Director of Technology and Innovation for the U.S. Olympic Committee; Managing Director at N3XT Sports; and Walid Soussou, President, Wearable Sensing.
Arabnet Beirut, the most influential digital conference in the Levant, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, and will be gathering senior government officials, entrepreneurs, Lebanon’s largest corporations. This buzzing event will feature expert discussions on a number of themes: “Launchpad” track focused on the latest trends in innovation, investment, and entrepreneurship; “Ad/Edge” track will tackle digital media, advertising technology, and marketing content; while “Finverse” track will delve into digital banking and fintech.
The event will continue to be the leading platform for budding talent to present their ideas, startups, hardware innovations, and marketing talent through Arabnet’s long-running competitions: Ideathon, Startup Battle, Innovation Avenue, and Creative Combat.
The event will also feature a Startup Showcase, bringing together 100 startups from Lebanon and beyond to exhibit and connect with industry experts and more than 100 GCC/regional investors.
