Manama, AGU: The Arabian Gulf University (AGU) recently hosted an interesting discussion on entrepreneurship skills, presented by Researcher Ms. Najlaa Sabah Al Dossary as part of the requirement to obtain a PhD degree in Gifted Education from the College of Graduate Studies (CGS) in the University.
Titled “The Compass for Entrepreneurship Skills”, the study came as an indicator of creativity and thinking styles of entrepreneurs in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and it was conducted on a sample of 108 Bahraini entrepreneurs in various fields. The study was conducted under the supervision of Measurement, Evaluation and Statistics Professor at the Gifted Education Department in AGU Dr Alaaeldin Ayoub, and Assistant Professor at the same department Dr Huda Al Hindal.
In her research, Ms. Al Dossary utilised scientific measures to measure personality traits related to the ability of creativity and innovation, and the level of excellence in entrepreneurship. The aspects measured in creativity perception included authority acceptance, self-confidence, curiosity, awareness of others, and imagination.
Meanwhile, the prevailing thinking pattern measure included creative, analytical, emotional and scientific patterns. It's worth noting that the scientific pattern achieved the highest percentage of thinking patterns among the research sample. Ms. Al Dossary also measured the entrepreneurial skill, which included proactive identification, innovation development, self-efficacy, achievement motivation and non-conformity.
Additionally, the researcher said the results of the cluster analysis revealed the possibility of dividing the data into three distinct clusters of entrepreneurs. The first cluster represented low-level of entrepreneurship, where their leadership skills and thinking styles scores were of a low level and the degrees of creative perception was at a moderate level.
The second cluster represented the middle entrepreneurship, who were distinguished by the moderation of all scores for all variables, while the third cluster represented the high entrepreneurs who were characterised by high scores in entrepreneurial skills, creative perception and moderate degrees of thinking patterns.
The results of the study showed that it was evident through the analysis that there is an impact of thinking style and the perception of creativity on entrepreneurship skills.
