Manama - AGU: As per the decision of the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) President Dr Abdulrahman Al Ohaly, Next-Generation Computing Department Head at the University's College of Graduate Studies (CGS) Dr Adel Bouhoula has been recently named the new Information Technology Unit Head.

Dr Bouhoula is an academic and researcher specialising in cybersecurity and formal methods with over 25 years of experience in the academic, research and administrative fields in many prestigious international institutions, such as the University of Tsukuba and the Mitsubishi Research Institute in Japan, the Stanford Research Institute in the US and the National Institute for Research in Digital Sciences and Technologies in France.

Additionally, Dr Bouhoula owned three patents, published more than 180 articles and delivered scientific lectures in several colleges and research centres in France, the UK, Germany, Italy, China, Canada, the US and Japan.

Dr Bouhoula has fruitful cooperation relations with many prestigious international universities and research centres, especially with Japan, for more than 25 years.

This cooperation began in 1996 when he was a visiting researcher at the Stanford Research Institute (SRI International) in California, in the US.

Dr Bouhoula delivered a lecture then on his latest research and the date of the lecture coincided with the presence of a delegation of Japanese researchers who suggested to him, immediately after the lecture, that he be a consultant for an international research project supervised by the Mitsubishi Research Institute in Tokyo, Japan. In addition to Japan, the project was co-supervised by France, Germany, the US and.

Dr Bouhoula was also a visiting professor in cybersecurity and formal methods at the University of Tsukuba and he trained many Japanese students who visited Tunisia to review formal methods technologies in cybersecurity.

It is noteworthy that Dr Bouhoula annually organises an international forum in cooperation with the University of Tsukuba since 2007, and the next edition of this forum will be organised next September.

He also has cooperation relations with the University of Aizu in Japan, in addition to research centres and universities in Canada, France, Norway and many African universities in Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal and Cameroon.

Furthermore, Dr Bouhoula has assumed several key positions, such as Higher Education Professor at the Higher School of Transportation in Tunisia, Digital Safety Research Laboratory Head at the University of Carthage, Director General of the National Media Centre in Tunisia, Director General of the Foundation for Research in Information and Communication Sciences in Tunisia, Information Technologies and Networks Director at Tunisie Telecom and a Senior Researcher with the INRIA French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control in France, among other leading posts.

Dr Bouhoula won the Excellence Award in Scientific Research of the University of Carthage, as well as the Order of the Republic and the National Medal of Merit under the title of the Education and Science Sector.
