Abu Dhabi: As part of their ongoing strategic partnership, Abu Dhabi University (ADU) and Etisalat signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further strengthen students’ tech skills and enable them to enter the workforce, especially the telecommunications industry, with confidence.
As part of the MoU, both parties will look into potential areas of collaboration that develop the education sector such as conducting seminars, workshops, conferences, joint funded research that introduce new technologies and train the youth, and provide a platform that showcases new technologies and shares best practices to relevant stakeholders.
They also explored ways to further engage with the UAE community by planning the launch of an academic centre of excellence dedicated to building tech skills, especially in the areas of coding, artificial intelligence, data analytics, big data, robotics, cyber security, blockchain, and Internet of Things (IoT), among others.
Professor Waqar Ahmad, Chancellor of ADU, said: “Abu Dhabi University has developed its vision 2022 in line with the UAE government’s National Agenda, to foster leadership, innovation and ambition among its graduates, ensuring that they become well-rounded influential leaders of the future – and our partnership with Etisalat is yet another testament to this commitment.”
Professor Waqar also thanked H.E. Sultan Mohamed Al Dhaheri and Etisalat for collaborating with ADU’s Annual Campaigns that support deserving students pursue their education, and provide students in the UAE access to the latest technologies that are defining the world.

Sultan Mohamed Al Dhaheri, General Manager, Etisalat Abu Dhabi, said: “We are pleased to partner with Abu Dhabi University, ranked this year among the world’s top 150 universities under 50 years of age, to work on projects that will equip its students with skills and industry experience essential to their personal and career progression. Artificial intelligence, robotics, virtual reality, augmented reality, big data, and other new emerging technologies will shape the skills required in the future. We look forward to exploring areas of collaboration with Abu Dhabi University such as industry orientation, seminars, workshops, high impact joint research focusing on new technologies, among others, to help prepare students for the future workforce.”
