Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) and Abu Dhabi Department of Community Development (DCD) marked UAE Flag Day today during a special joint ceremony.
This morning, HE Dr. Mugheer Al Khaili, DCD Chairman, and HE Sara Musallam, ADEK Chairman hoisted the nation’s flag in front of the ADEK building, in the presence of Their Excellencies the Undersecretaries and Executive Directors of ADEK and DCD.
HE Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Community Development (DCD), stated: "the UAE Flag Day is a national occasion that bolsters our people's pride in the nation for the many milestones we have reached in all walks of life and fields of science. These milestones prove the UAE's ability to proceed in the righteous path drawn by its founder, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, since the Union was established, and the flag raised in 1971. Since then, the nation has faced great changes and challenges that played a major role in moving forward towards achieving development and prosperity and providing a dignified life for all members of society. On this occasion, we reiterate our loyalty to our homeland under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE President. We promise more achievements as we advance the nation's stature in various fields regionally and globally. We will do so by supporting the comprehensive development process, while preparing sustainable strategies and plans to attain the highest levels of quality and efficiency."
Speaking during the ceremony, HE Musallam praised the UAE’s visionary leadership and stressed that UAE Flag Day is an occasion to reflect on national unity, belonging and loyalty. “As we celebrate the UAE Flag Day, I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to our founding fathers and our leadership who has expanded the foundation of a united nation and continue to support initiatives that accelerate development across all sectors,” said HE Musallam.
“Today, we also renew our commitment to continue elevating, improving and empowering education in Abu Dhabi through concerted efforts that will equip our students with all the necessary skills to positively impact industries locally, regionally and globally, and contribute to raising our country’s flag to even greater heights,” she added.
To ensure every staff member of the three entities could participate in one of the most symbolic dates on the UAE national calendar, the flag-raising ceremony was streamed online for ADEK and DCD staff to tune in virtually.
Held annually on November 3, UAE Flag Day marks the date of His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s accession to the role of the country’s President in 2004.
