The Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Petroleum Operations Ltd. ADCO, has awarded the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for the development of the Mender field to China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corporation, CPECC. Its value is US $ 334 million.
The contract was signed at ADCO's headquarters on 17th May by Mr. Abdul Munim Saif Al Kindy, Chief Executive Officer, and Mr. Ahmed Al Hammadi, Senior Vice President (South East), for ADCO and by Mr. Hou Haojie, the president of CPECC, and Mr. Ji Chenglin, General Manager of CPECC Abu Dhabi.
The contract covers the construction of gathering stations, pipelines and power transmission lines, as well as sewage systems.
The event was also attended by ADCO Executive Management, ADCO Engineering and Major Projects Management, members of the Executive Management of CPECC and He Song, Economic & Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in the UAE.
With a production capacity of about 20,000 barrels per day, the Mender field project is of strategic importance since it will help boost ADCO's daily crude production from 1.6 mbpd barrels to 1.8 mbpd by 2017.
The field is expected to yield 20,000 barrels per day when developed and is part of the wider onshore South East Full Field Development project that includes the Sahil and Qusahwira oilfields, which together are expected to increase Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Operations' (Adco's) output to 1.8 million bpd by the end of 2017 from the current output of about 1.4 million bpd.
The Mender field is part of ADCO's South-East Abu Dhabi Asset, which also includes the Asab, Sahil, Shah and Qusahwira fields.
