AMMAN – HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global), was hosted as a the Guest of Honor at the closing session of the 'Meet for Jordan' conference . The session was held under the title: 'Land of Talents and Opportunities’.

The conference, held under the patronage of Minister of Industry, Trade & Supply, HE Eng. Maha Ali, was organized by the Sindyan Entrepreneurship & Development Organization in cooperation with Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum (TAG-KF), a member of TAG.Global.

In his speech, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stressed the necessity of achieving self-sufficiency in the three key areas - food, medicine and education, pointing out that some countries continue to face difficulties in achieving self-sufficiency in basic needs despite the technological revolution the world is going through.

Furthermore, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh called on the Arab countries to implement the ‘self-sufficiency’ strategy by developing a national plan that incorporates food, medicine and education to overcome all internal and external challenges that would directly affect the gross domestic product (GDP).

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh also stated that the digital transformation, particularly in education with specific emphasis on creativity and innovation has become a major tool in the fight against the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis and any other crises. Additionally, he pointed out that the Arab countries are rich in innovative and creative people; therefore, they have to invest in such creativity through innovation funds allocated to transforming creativity into marketable products.

He added that digital literacy is an imperative and humanitarian need, noting that he has been calling for fighting digital illiteracy since he was chair of the UN Global Alliance for ICT for Development (UN GAID).

Meanwhile, Acting Chairman of the Jordan Investment Commission (JIC), Mr. Fareedon Hartoqa stated that the JIC plays a key role in supporting the Jordanian exports as it seeks, in cooperation with the Jordanian private sector, to open new

markets for Jordanian products and services. He also said that the Jordanian economy - despite its small size – allows Jordanian products to reach out to 1.5 billion consumers worldwide in accordance with the signed free trade agreements by Jordan with different countries.

Meanwhile, HE Dr. Wissam Rabadi, Chairman of Jordan Exports Company, pointed out that the Company aims to become the leading national umbrella for increasing the Jordanian exports through the promotion of Jordanian exports in the global markets, as well as coordination among various exports relevant bodies, whether they were public or private.

For his part, Dr. Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat, Managing Director of Jordan Tourism Board (JTB), said that tourism is considered as an export industry which aims at attracting tourism consumers to the country, who will generate foreign currency cash flow into the economy, reviewing the latest procedures the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities announced to support the tourism sector that has been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

To support the export sector in the country, HE Mr. Abedfattah Al- Kayed, CEO of the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO), referred to the ‘We Ship Your Export’ program launched by JEDCO to support local industries. services keep pace with the digital transformation.

For his part, Mr. Fadi Daoud, executive director of TAG-KF and Head of the Conference and Exhibition’s Organizing Committee, noted that the Conference has seen active involvement of local and international institutions who participated in a number of specialized digital dialogue sessions held on the margin of the Expo.
