Abu Dhabi, March 19th, 2007: The Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) will use APEX 2007 to showcase its ambitious work to develop the Emirate's aviation infrastructure.

The Aviation Procurement and Finance Conference 2007, which kicks off on Monday at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, brings together some of the world's top aviation suppliers under one roof.

H. E. Khalifa Al Mazrouei, Chairman and Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), said APEX would give participants first-hand exposure to Abu Dhabi's plans to become one of the world's most sophisticated aviation gateways.

"Abu Dhabi Airports Company is proud to take part in the Aviation Procurement Expo, APEX 2007. It is a good opportunity to showcase our plans to develop the Emirate's aviation infrastructure and to interact with key players in the industry. APEX provides a unique opportunity for networking with the world's aviation suppliers who are keen to capitalize on the huge aviation projects coming up in this part of the world," he said.

The airport expansion will allow passenger traffic to grow beyond 40 million per year from the current seven million, while cargo capacity will be boosted from 150,000 tonnes per year at present to two million tonnes. The project includes construction of a second runway, two new terminals, a state-of-the-art air traffic control complex and expansion of cargo facilities.

Abu Dhabi Airports Company "ADAC" has commenced a major marketing campaign which started with high profile participation at the International Travel Expo, ITB Berlin, which ran from the 7th to the 9th of March 2007.

ITB Berlin was closely followed by ADAC's participation in ACI Airport Business & Trinity Forum 2007, in Dubai, during which the Abu Dhabi International Airport clinched two prestigious awards as the best airport in Africa and the Middle East in terms of service quality and customer service.

During the same week, ADAC took part in the Gulf Incentive, Business Travel and Meetings Exhibition "GIBTM" during March 13th-15th.

"APEX 2007 is our fourth event in a row during this busy month," said Peter Hoslin, Head of ADAC's Marketing Department.

"Other events on the March calendar include the Free Zone-focused Conference and Exhibition (GINEX) during March 26-28 in Abu Dhabi, and the Regional Asia Routes Forum in China."

He added: "APEX provides us with a timely opportunity to talk and listen to the aviation procurement experts. Such an interaction is valuable in that it helps us ensure that the new facilities cater to the needs of the industry at world-class standards. It also allows us to show why Abu Dhabi and Al Ain International Airports provide good value to the industry, not only as transit airports but also as original destination hubs.

APEX has been commissioned by the Abu Dhabi Government to support the growth of ADAC, Etihad Airways and the Gulf Aircraft Maintenance Company (GAMCO). The event also includes a major conference focusing on procurement issues facing modern airlines and featuring speakers from major airlines around the world.

Visitors to ADAC stand will be able to have a glimpse of how the Airport would look like. ADAC stand features a model of the Midfield Terminal Complex, the flagship terminal that will bring the Airport's overall capacity to 20 million passengers, which can then be further expanded gradually to 40 million to cope with future growth.
