Indian expats planning to send money back home are encouraged to do so at the earliest, with one Omani Rial currently worth INR 197, the highest it has been all year.

"The Rial touched the INR 197 mark this morning, thanks to the Dollar levels and oil prices," said an official at an exchange house in Oman.

"We expect it to be in a state of flux until 2:30 this afternoon, when we will have the final exchange rate as the market closes at that time," he added.

This is the highest the Rupee exchange rate has been this year, having steadily reached this mark over the last few days, according to the exchange official. It hovered around the INR 196.4 mark yesterday.
