HAMBURG  - Algerian state agency ONAB is believed to have purchased at least 40,000 tonnes of corn to be sourced from Argentina in a tender which closed on Wednesday, European traders said on Thursday.

The agency is also believed to have bought about 40,000 tonnes of soymeal which can be sourced from optional origins including Argentina and the United States.

The exact tonnes of corn and soymeal bought was unclear.

The corn was believed to have been purchased at around $204.37 a tonne c&f and the soymeal at about $376.20 a tonne c&f.

The corn was sought for shipment in the second half of December, 2018. The soymeal was sought for shipment in the first half of January, 2019.

Algeria does not announce the results of grain tenders and results are trade assessments.
