ArabFinance: Partnering with the Cairo International Film Festival 2019, TikTok has decided to celebrate this collaboration by hosting a challenge that encourages users to unleash their creativity and reenact scenes from famous Egyptian movies.
Bringing back films of the past under #CIFF_acting, TikTok has provided scenes from the following movies for users to act out: Al Keif, Al Mansy, Al Khataia, Saidi Fi al-Gamaa al-Amrikiya, and Eshaaet Hob. The challenge is currently ongoing and will end on the 29th of November with the winner receiving an iPhone 11. Runners-up of the competition will also be rewarded with exclusive TikTok gift sets.
As the hub of creativity and artistic expression, TikTok’s decision to be part of the oldest internationally-recognized film festival in the region is a testament to the platform’s dedication to the promotion of film culture. Furthermore, as TikTok believes in the importance of acclimating to the customs and traditions of the countries in which they operate, this partnership will allow the platform to connect with their Egyptian audience; especially considering how movies and movie references are an integral aspect of Egypt’s identity.
Commenting on this, Hany Kamel, TikTok’s Content Operations Director in the North Africa Region stated, “TikTok and the Cairo International Film Festival share the common interests of promoting the substantial benefits generated by creative expression and highlighting the positive impact art has on society. We are excited to be partnering with the biggest industry event in the region and enlisting the creativity of our user base to further advance these values.”
The Cairo International Film Festival is one of only 15 international film festivals accorded as category “A” by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) and has been attended by regional and global personages since its inception in 1976.
