The Health and Environment Committee of Majlis Ash’shura hosted experts from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the Environment Authority to identify the environmental damage of adverse weather conditions and ways of reducing their human, environmental and material impacts through early warning systems.
The panel discussed the CAA’s ways of dealing with climatic conditions before, during and after their occurrence, and the authority’s efforts to raise public awareness of climatic conditions and their impact on public health. Also discussed at the meeting was the fields of cooperation between the Authority and other institutions regarding climatic conditions and ways of reducing the ensuing environmental and health impacts.
The meeting discussed the Environment Authority’s efforts for dealing with climatic conditions and their resultant environmental damage. It also discussed the Authority’s plans to reduce the environmental effects resulting from climatic conditions and the aspects of cooperation with the other authorities in this regard.
The meeting emphasized an urgent need to improve the weather forecast and early warning systems of tropical conditions in the Civil Aviation Authority, and the need to activate the cell broadcast service during climatic conditions in cooperation with the telecommunication firms and relevant authorities. The meeting stressed the importance of incentivising human cadres working in the meteorological and analysis sector in order to reduce the migration of experienced cadres.
