TOKYO: Kuwait ended their Tokyo 2020 Olympics campaign with a single bronze medal won by shooter Abdullah Turgi Al-Rashidi in the skeet competition.
In the shooting competitions at the Asaka Shooting Range, Al-Rashidi won the bronze medal at the skeet event, while the trio Mansour Al-Rashedi, Talal Al-Rashidi and Abdulrahman Al-Faihan showed good skills in the competitions, but did not win any medals. Kuwait participated with 10 athletes, partaking five different sport events, in the 32nd Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which ended on Sunday August eighth.
The champion Abdulrahman Al-Fadhel competed in the rowing competition, where he participated in several rounds, held at Tokyo Bay’s Sea Forest Waterway. In the men’s 110-meter hurdles, Yaqoub Al-Youha finished seventh, recording a time of 13.69 seconds.
Meanwhile, Mudhawi Al-Shammari, a Kuwaiti sprinter, participated in the 100-meter race, with a time of 11.81 seconds, qualifying for the first round after achieving third place in the pre-qualifying race.
The Olympic swimming participant Lara Dashti achieved fourth place, recording a time of 29.69 seconds in the 50-meter swimming competition.
Abbas Qali came in fourth place during his competition for the 100- meter butterfly race, recording a time of 53.62 seconds, therefore was unable to qualify for the second round. Lastly, Mohammad Al-Musawi, a Kuwaiti karate champion, concluded the participation of Kuwait in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. (KUNA)
