King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden visited Expo 2020 on 15-16 December. The King toured five Pavilions of the United States of America, Germany, South Korea, India, and Egypt.
During the tour, the King of Sweden commended the great effort made in the pavilion and in its design. The King of Sweden was also keen to see the pharaonic sarcophagus displayed in the pavilion. Hoda Khalifa, member of the Technical Office of the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, and the former supervisor of the Minister’s scientific office, gave him an explanation about the coffin and its owner, the priest Basmatik bin Osiris. The King of Sweden expressed his fascination with pharaonic sarcophagus displayed in the pavilion, its beauty and the splendor of its natural colors, which it still retains for thousands of years, in addition to his admiration for the archaeological reproductions participating in the exhibition, especially those that represent examples of the treasures of King Tutankhamun.
The King also entered the time machine “Time Machine” located in the Egyptian pavilion, where a short film is shown on a 4D screen about Egypt, ancient and modern, and its various archaeological and tourist attractions, in addition to a presentation of its new cities.
The King came to Dubai to celebrate Sweden’s National Day at Expo in the Swedish Pavilion. The Swedish day highlighted Sweden’s achievements, values and world-leading innovations.
The Swedish Minister for Foreign Trade Anna Hallberg and a trade delegation of two hundred people and several CEOs and chairpersons from Swedish companies attended the celebration of the Swedish national Day at Expo. The aim was to promote Sweden as a leading innovative and competitive country, providing solutions needed for a green transition and a more sustainable society. This is also the essence of the Swedish Pavilion “The Forest”.
Throughout Sweden, a green industrial revolution is under way. At Expo 2020 Sweden is showing the world how far Swedish companies have come in terms of sustainability and innovation – and that Sweden is open for co-creation and collaboration says Anna Hallberg, Minister for Foreign Trade and Nordic Affairs.
