The 22nd Asian Archery Championship (AAC), which will kick off on November 13 in Bangladesh, is the first to be attended by a Jordanian delegation representing the Kingdom.

A total of 131 archers, 78 of which are men and 53 women, from 17 countries will compete in a week long meet that will comprise of 10 events, according to the AAC website.

“Never be afraid to try something new and always dream big,” said Jordan’s female representative Diana Al Daoud.

Daoud told The Jordan Times about her archery experience, stating that “On September 25, 2020, I went to my first archery try-out session alone, I didn’t know then what doors and opportunities it was holding for me”.

“It’s the first time Jordan has ever participated in the Asian Archery Championship, I’m honoured to be the first female to represent Jordan,” Daoud added.

  1. Alongside Daoud, the Jordanian team will consist of archer Hamza Ma’ani and Kareem Budeiri, a Congress Voting Delegate and Official and Jordan Archery Association (JAA) Chairman, according to the JAA.

The JAA was found in 2019 by a group of passionate archers who aim to make archery available to as many people as possible, according to its website.

The participating countries are India, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Syria, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yemen and hosts Bangladesh.
