AMMAN — The King Abdullah II Fund for Development (KAFD) and the Jordan Press Foundation (JPF)/Al Rai on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the implementation of specialised training courses in a number of fields through Al Rai’s Media Training Centre.
The courses will address topics such as communication skills, media content management and combatting extremist ideology and rumours.
The MoU was signed by JPF Director General Farid Silwani and KAFD Director Saeb Hassan, in the presence of JPF Chairman of the Board Ayman Majali.
The courses will be implemented as part of the KAFD’s initiatives to connect with various media institutions, analyse public opinion, manage and protect information and guarantee its delivery to the public fairly and efficiently.
Majali said that partnership with the fund works to fulfil the JPF’s and Al Rai’s vision for constructing a network of relations that serves youth, raises awareness on the dangers of radical thinking and presents ways to face it.
“Al Rai possesses expertise that can be invested into this project to serve the local community,” Majali added, noting that this is the manifestation of media institutions’ role in spreading a culture of peace and humanity, and instilling an awareness of civil responsibility.
For his part, Hassan said that the MoU is part of the KAFD’s approach to building partnerships between the private and public sectors to provide opportunities that benefit the youth.
