Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi launched on Monday the strategy of the Public Authority for Sports for the years (2022- 2028), which depends on harnessing resources and systems to develop and sponsor sports activity, raise the capabilities and energies of youth and organize the sports work environment in the country.

 

In a speech delivered at the strategy launching ceremony held at the Jaber Al-Ahmad City Youth Center, Minister Al-Mutairi said that the strategy will take partnership and teamwork with relevant bodies and institutions inside and outside Kuwait as its title in order to achieve development goals and the vision of (New Kuwait 2035) and raise the name of Kuwait in international sports forums. He added that the authority, in accordance with the strategy, will work to implement the state’s national policy in the field of sports and will cooperate with partners to establish the values of sports stipulated in the strategy, which are justice, equality, integrity, partnership, diversity and efficiency. He stated that the most important of these partners are the Olympic and Paralympic Committee, sports bodies, the government and private sectors, quality federations, the Kuwait Anti-Doping Agency and the National Arbitration Authority.

 

Authority
He stated that the authority seeks to implement the vision of the strategy (a sustainable sports environment and a climate that motivates achievement), which aspires to lead in various fields of sports by encouraging young people to engage in sports with perseverance and continuity to pass from generation to generation with a high degree of efficiency, proficiency and excellence to create ambitious athletes. He pointed out that one of the most important outputs that the strategy will implement in the coming years is to allocate a national sports day in the country to motivate the community to practice sports, in addition to establishing 6 sports stadiums in various governorates of the country in partnership with the private sector, as well as establishing an integrated Olympic sports city and hosting 45 championships and courses at regional, continental, international and global level.

Al-Mutairi indicated that the authority will provide an integrated system for professionalism and sports sabbaticals, establish a scientific academy for sports, in addition to integrating people with disabilities in sports bodies, in addition to enabling 300 Kuwaiti sports journalists to analyze and present in various sports. He pointed out that the strategy has established a mechanism for creating champions in various sports to achieve various medals in the Olympic and Paralympic Games in a satisfactory manner, starting in 2028.

Inspiring
Results, building an inspiring and motivating environment, upholding the public interest, directing resources to serve athletes, and maximizing returns. He explained that the strategy aims to preserve the distinguished pioneering heritage of Kuwaiti sport and advance its present and future by increasing sports awareness and providing a safe, regulatory and supportive environment to enhance opportunities for practicing sports activities. It will also provide access to highquality sports infrastructure for all. He stated that the authority’s strategy supports best practices for the sustainability of facilities, improving competitiveness and developing Kuwaiti sports talents, as well as promoting and empowering women in all sports fields and age stages, noting that it has set clear indicators before the authority to measure its success in implementing its provisions.

He praised the efforts of the strategy industry team of Kuwaiti youth volunteers and the authority’s employees for their strenuous efforts in this regard, expressing his confidence in the sons and daughters of Kuwait in implementing this strategy and achieving the aspirations of athletes under our wise leadership that sponsors sports and athletes. The launch ceremony of the strategy was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Public Authority for Sports Assad Taqi, Director General of the Sports Authority Hammoud Fleiteh, Chairman of the Kuwait Olympic Committee Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, a number of authority and committee officials, the strategy team, and a large number of players. , (KUNA)
