Benha University Hospital announced, on Saturday, 16 coronavirus (Covid-19) cases among its medical staff and one case of a patient after several tests were conducted for workers and patients.

The hospital said in a press statement that 400 rapid antibody tests, 300 CBC tests, 300 chest CT scans, and 150 PCR tests were conducted for 140 medical staff and 10 patients who were in contact with confirmed Covid-19 cases. Moreover, sterilisation and disinfection of all the hospital departments have continued in light of the precautionary procedures followed by the hospital.

The Health Ministry on Saturday reported 227 new coronavirus cases and 13 new deaths, raising the country’s total to 4,319 cases and 307 deaths. A total 1,114 cases have recovered and been discharged from quarantines.

In the same context, the Isolation Hospital in Esna, Luxor, announced the recovery of five new Covid-19 cases, bringing the number of recoveries in the hospital to 177.

Moreover, Kafr El Dawar Hospital in Giza, which was also designated for isolation, said seven coronvirus patients have recovered and have been discharged from the hospital.

Sources in the hospital said they provided treatment for 132 Covid-19 cases, of whom 15 were in stable condition and were expected to be discharged soon. The hospital has begun receiving Covid-19 cases on 16 April.

On Saturday, the Egyptian Company for Metro Management and Operation carried out sterilisation and disinfection operations of trains and stations in Cairo Metro to counter the spread of the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, EgyptAir and Air Cairo have announced they will operate three special flights to the US and Indonesia to bring home Egyptians stranded there due to the ongoing pandemic, according to the state-run Middle East News Agency.

An Air Cairo plane is flying to Jakarta on Saturday and will return to the Red Sea resort of Marsa Alam on Monday. Flagship carrier EgyptAir will operate two trips; the first to Washington on 1 May with a scheduled return to Marsa Alam two days later. The second plane is set to take off on 3 May from Cairo to the US, returning to Marsa Alam two days later.

Both airlines ran two special flights to Asian and European destinations on Friday to repatriate Egyptians stranded in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Athens, and Belgrade.

Egypt has launched special flights across the world since March to repatriating hundreds of nationals stranded in various countries.
