Muscat: Regarding reports of the ICU at Royal Hospital being full and having no room to accomodate new COVID-19 patients, as well as a rumour about the closure of the Neurology department at Khawla Hospital, the Ministry of Health has said both are untrue.

A statement issued by the Government Communication Center (GC), quashed both rumours and said: “An official source from Ministry of Health confirmed that there are currently 15 COVID-19 cases in the Royal Hospital in intensive care and the hospital has a complete plan to accommodate more cases as needed in coordination with the Ministry of Health.”

“In the same context, the source denied what is being circulated regarding the closure of the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at Khawla Hospital, and explained that there are a limited number of cases of COVID-19 in the isolation department in the hospital.”

“The same source also reported the registration of three cases of health workers infected in Khawla Hospital, not related to work, but due to community contact. They are currently subject to domestic isolation, with confirmation that all cases, including the health workers, are stable.”
