The submission window for exhibitor application at the 52nd edition of the Cairo International Book Fair has been formally opened.
Publishers who wish to participate in the event can submit their applications between 4 April and 6 May at the headquarters of the General Egyptian Book Organization (GEBO).
This year’s edition will take place under the theme “Egypt’s Identity: Culture and the Question of the Future”.
The Fair will honour Egyptian writer Yehia Haqqi at the 52nd edition. Haqqi is considered the father of the short story and novel in Egypt, and is one of the greatest pioneers of contemporary short story writing in the Arab world.
Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel-Dayem had postponed the book fair from January this year to June, due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The fair will now take place from 30 June to 15 July 2021.
The event will also celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of Tharwat Okasha, the Egyptian writer, translator, and former Minister of Culture during the Presidency of Gamal Abdel Nasser.
