KUWAIT CITY: The Public Prosecution has decided to refer to the Criminal Court a case related to graft and assault of public funds filed against an official of the Zakat House who is accused of receiving bribes in exchange for the approval of a tender to distribute meals to the needy, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting reliable sources.

They said the prosecution decided to refer three defendants – the official of the Zakat House” and the owners of two companies in question – after it became clear from the investigations that the official had approved two tenders related to the distribution of aid to the needy.

The sources said the three defendants were detained for a period of 21 days, and after the investigations were completed, they were referred to the Criminal Court.

They concluded that the accusation sheet demanded maximum legal punishment against the accused, affirming that the accusation of their failure to work in accordance with legal frameworks have been proven against them.
