KUWAIT CITY: The Kuwait Municipality organized intensive field tours in all the Governorates of Kuwait which coincided with the implementation of the municipality general director’s decision No. 566/2021 which shut down personal care stores (barbershops and beauty salons for women) and health clubs in addition to stopping all commercial activities from 8 pm until 5 am, prevent entertaining customers into restaurants, permitting home delivery service during closure period and excluding food shopping outlets, medical supplies, pharmacies and food supply centers from being closed.
The field teams also ensured the extent of the employees’ commitment to health instructions such as using preventive means — wearing face masks and gloves, providing sterilizers, preventing gatherings and holding parties and banquets to limit the spread of the Corona virus. The field tour inspectors in the Ahmadi Governorate issued 25 citations for some stores in a number of commercial complexes and also issued 47 verbal warnings to fully adhere to the decision.

In the Hawalli Governorate 3 citations and 13 warnings were issued for non-compliance with health requirements. In the Mubarak Al-Kabeer one citation and 14 warnings were issued to shops for not adhering to health requirements and not adhering to closure times.
In the Jahra Governorate it appears the stores fully complied with all orders and instructions. In this context, Director- General of Kuwait Municipality, Engr Ahmed Al-Manfouhi, praised the response of the shopkeepers to the suspension of some commercial activities, praising also the cooperation of 90% of the workers in the shops in implementing the decision that comes based on the requirements of the public interest and the recommendations of the health authorities.
Al-Manfouhi stressed the tasks of the field teams are to tighten supervision through inspection tours to ensure the commitment of shop owners to the decisions issued by the Council of Ministers. In the event of no cooperation, he said, the violators will be severely punished.
This is done to protect all people in light of the exceptional circumstances the country is going through due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
