Saudi Arabia, China to share judicial expertise

Will also strive to find best methodology for cooperation on sharing legal information

RIYADH —Vice Minister of Justice Saad Al-Saif and his Chinese counterpart Xiong Xuanguo signed a memorandum of cooperation between the ministries of justice in the two countries to share judicial information and expertise.

«This memorandum has culminated the good relations between the two countries in line with the desire of the leaders of both countries to enhance economic, commercial and judicial cooperation,» said Al-Saif.

«It aims to expand legal and judicial cooperation and establish a framework cooperation agreement taking into account national legislations, functions, and authorities of both parties,» he said.

The two parties agreed to establish a foundation for cooperation in legislation, legal dissemination and publication, notarial management, institutional operational management, tech support, and training.

According to the memorandum, the two sides will also strive to find the best methodology for cooperation on sharing legal information; judicial administration; exchange of delegations; and holding of seminars, conferences and meetings.

During his visit to China in January, Justice Minister Waleed Al-Sama›ani discussed with senior Chinese officials cooperation for bilateral exchange, development of strategic legal relations, and prominent and diverse judicial relations.

«The two ministries are discussing the bilateral judicial agreement so that it becomes — once it has been officially issued — part of the national legislation of both countries, ensuring the enforcement of rulings issued by the courts of each country in the other,» said Abdulaziz Al-Nasir, deputy minister of justice for laws and international cooperation.
