Muscat: Her Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation issues a ministerial decision to temporarily suspend processing applications for licensing the establishment of private training institutions for a period of three years.

The Ministry issued Ministerial Resolution No. 39/2023 to stop processing requests for licensing the establishment of private training institutions.

The decision stipulated the following: “Based on Royal Decree No. 98/2020 amending the name of the 'Ministry of Higher Education' to the 'Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation', defining its terms of reference and approving its organizational structure and the regulation for organizing private training issued by Ministerial Resolution No. 40/2021, and based on what is required by the public interest, it has been decided the following:

Article one:

Deciding on applications for licensing the establishment of private training institutions shall be suspended temporarily for a period of three years.

Article two:

This decision does not apply to applications that were submitted to the Ministry prior to the implementation of this decision, and which have not been decided upon if they fulfill the requirements stipulated in the aforementioned private training regulation.
