Illegal residents opting for the six-month temporary job-seeker visa can apply for the same at any typing centre in Fujairah, a top official has said. They needn't even approach the General Directorate Of Residency And Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA). Such applications will be approved by the GDRFA through the electronic system that links typing centres to the directorate.

Brigadier Dr Ahmed Al Sagiri, acting executive director of the GFRFA - Fujairah, also said illegals who have received an outpass can travel on the same day.

Brigadier Saeed bin Rakan Al Rashedi, Director General of Foreign Affairs and Ports Affairs at the federal authority, ordered the directorate to set up a new tent to cater to the increasing number of illegals. "The new tent will be equipped with an air-conditioner and a water dispenser so that applicants don't have to queue up outside in the sweltering heat," he said.

Brigadier Al Sagiri told Khaleej Times that the number of violator who approached the directorate "exceeded our expectations".
