AMMAN — Laptops and desktops are no more subject to import pre-approvals. The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) on Wednesday exempted laptops and desktops, new and used, from getting pre-approvals before entering the Kingdom.
TRC Chief Commissioner Ghazi Jbour, in a statement, said that the measure was taken to promote trade and import activities in this field, noting that the move would help in providing sufficient quantities of communications equipment, to meet the higher demand for laptops and desktops, which was driven by the coronavirus pandemic and distance learning.
The decision excluded laptops and desktops from obtaining import approvals, provided they do not violate legislation, he said, which would boost competitiveness, reduce prices and bring more varieties, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
