KUWAIT CITY: The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) is currently contemplating on allowing expatriates under dependent visa to transfer to work visa, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources.

Sources said this came after the authority decided to suspend such transfer two months ago.

Sources disclosed this is based on humanitarian consideration; because a large number of expatriates, especially women, who entered the country for the first time need work permits (Article 18 visa).

According to the sources, the transfer procedure requires the approval of the assistant undersecretary for employment affairs in the authority.

The concerned expatriates should pay KD 300 if the period between the issuance of dependent visa and transfer to work permit is less than six months, in addition to submission of the sequence of residency permits from the Ministry of Interior, sources added.
