Kerala police will issue police clearance for UAE visas within 14 days, Malayalam media quoted state police chief Loknath Behra on Wednesday.

Behra told media that he had personally issued directives to all the district police chiefs to speed up procedures regarding issuance of police clearance certificates. The UAE government's new rule that made good conduct certificates mandatory came into effect on February 1.

Applicants can approach district police chiefs for the certificate, who will check the affidavit and the application, with the help of special brach police, reports quoted Behra. He also added that the district police chiefs and special branch police can seek help from any police station in the state in this regard.

"In normal case it will take less than 14 days. But in case of those who have any criminal case against them, it will be a bit late as the special branch will have to collect details about the case," said Behra.
