Four private medical centres had their licences withdrawn this year over gross violations.
National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) chief executive Dr Mariam Al Jalahma yesterday said the facilities employed unlicensed individuals, provided illegal services and used unauthorised equipment and expired drugs.
The NHRA accountability committee had investigated the violations with the directors in charge of the centres.
Chaired by a judge, the probe panel decided to shut down the centres and gave the authority a deadline to revoke their licences.
Ms Jalahma vowed to continue inspection campaigns to crack down on violations and ensure patients’ safety.
