Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has arrested five expats on charges of smuggling and trafficking in narcotics.

"After monitoring operations of dealers with international gangs smuggling across the sea, the Directorate General for Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Control managed to seize more than 122 kilograms of different types of narcotics and more than 2,400 tablets of psychotropic substances in the possession of two expatriates when they took them out of their hiding place in one of the beaches of Muscat," ROP said in a statement.

ROP also arrested three other expatriates in possession of 38 molds of hashish, morphine and crystals while they were trying to transport them using a rented vehicle. Legal procedures are being completed against the five accused.
