Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry participated on Sunday in the meeting of the political consultation mechanism between Egypt and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) which was held in the Saudi capital Riyadh.
Shoukry joined his counterparts from the GCC countries and the Secretary General of the council.
The meeting witnessed the inauguration of the political consultation mechanism between Egypt and the GCC countries, with the participation of the GCC foreign ministers and the secretary general of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Shoukry confirmed the depth of brotherly relations, which gathered both sides, pointing out Egypt’s continuation to strengthen relations between the two sides to achieve the aspirations of peoples in development and prosperity.
He stressed the need to intensify coordination at the unprecedented challenges in the region noting that the security of the Arabian Gulf and his sister countries are an integral part of Egypt’s security.
Ambassador Ahmed Hafez, the spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry, said that the launch of the Egyptian-Gulf political consultation mechanism is a continuation of the well-established Egyptian-Gulf relations and their depth and durability at various levels.
Hafez added that the mechanism reflects the keenness of the two sides to periodically coordinate and consult between them, especially towards the common challenges facing the Arab region, as well as the need for unification, in addition to affirming that the security and stability of the Gulf is an integral part of Egyptian national security.
