(TAP)- A Chinese grant agreement was signed Tuesday at the seat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad. The 100 million yuan funding (nearly 40 million dinars) fits in with the objective to finance projects that will be agreed by the two countries.

The agreement was inked by Minister Othman Jerandi and China's Ambassador to Tunisia Zhang Jianguo.

Jerandi expressed appreciation to China for making this grant which, he said, " reflects the privileged ties between the two countries."

There is keenness to scale up cooperation, particularly in development and infrastructure projects, he further said.

The Chinese diplomat said his country eyes stronger cooperation and wants to bring scheduled projects to completion.

China, he said, is ready to help Tunisia address the economic and development challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
