AMMAN — Exports of the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) in the first eight months of 2021 increased by nine per cent compared with the same period in 2019, ACI announced on Saturday.

The chamber's industrial exports stood at JD3.257 billion during the January-August period of 2021, compared with JD2,989 billion for the same period in 2019, ACI statistical data showed, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.

The US, India, Saudi Arabia and Iraq accounted for more than half of the ACI's exports during the first eight months of 2021, standing at JD1.914 billion, the chamber said.

ACI's exports to the US increased during the January-August period of 2021 by 68 per cent, making it the top importer of the chamber's exports with a value of JD617 million, compared with JD368 million for the same period in 2019.

The chamber's exports to India also increased during the past eight months of 2021 by 18 per cent, standing at some JD563 million, compared with JD476 million for the same period in 2019.

The chamber's exports to the Iraqi market increased slightly during the eight months of 2021 to JD349 million, compared with JD347 million for the same period in 2019.

ACI exports to Saudi Arabia during the January-August period of 2021 dropped by 1 per cent to JD385 million, compared with around JD389 million during the same period in 2019.

Exports to Syria during the past eight months of 2021 increased by 16 per cent to JD55 million, compared with JD48 million for the same period in 2019, according to ACI figures.

ACI exports to Turkey also increased during the same period by 36 per cent to JD31 million compared with JD23 million for the same period of 2019.

Exports to other countries — mainly the UAE, Indonesia, Egypt, Brazil, Algeria, Sudan, Belgium, Libya, Malaysia and the Netherlands — increased during the January-August period of 2021.
