New rule in place from August 1: report

Visitors to the UAE from 45 countries eligible for a 30-day visa-on-arrival will now have to pay Dh600 if they choose to extend their stay beyond the specified time period.

According to a report in 'Emarat Al Youm', this new rule is applicable as of August 1, 2014.

The report quotes the UAE Foreign Ministry citing 45 countries eligible for visa on arrival, that will now be affected by the charge.

The report cites Article 14 of the decision of the Council of Ministers No (22) of 2014, Ministry of the Interior, which stipulates that nationals of these 45 states will have to pay fees in case of extending their stay.

Also, according to Article 14 of the Council of Ministers Resolution No 22, permissions are exempt from fees and financial guarantees established in case ministries, departments, institutions and federal and local public bodies have invited the persons from abroad.
